Benyamin Sönmez

Turkish cellist. He was born in Bremen, Germany,(16.01.1983). He graduated from Ankara Conservatory in Turkey and became a student of the famous Russian cellist, Natalia Gutman, at the Stuttgart Music Academy and Moskow Conservatory between 2003 and 2007. His repertoire includes modern composers including Shostakovich, Schnittke, Gubaidulina, Piazzolla and Kodaly as well as the composers of baroque and other eras. He also had Master Class performances with the great cellists like Rostropovich, David Geringas, Philippe Muller, Alexander Rudin, Stevan Popov, Frans Helmerson and Anner Bylsma. He is considered as one of the most talented young cellists of our time.
