Not to be confused with Isabel of Braganza

Isabella of Braganza (1414–1476), also known as Isabella of Barcelos (her father was originaly the 8th Count of Barcelos). She was the daughter of Afonso, 1st Duke of Braganza and Beatriz Pereira Alvim, she married Infante João, Lord of Reguengos de Monsaraz, her half-uncle, son of John I of Portugal.

Family

Isabella was the grandmother of both Manuel I of Portugal and Isabella I of Castile, through her granddaughter Isabella is the great great grandmother of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor and Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor, Isabella is also the great grandmother Catherine of Aragon and there for is the great great grandmother of Mary I of England.

Ancestors

Isabella and Infante John had four children:
*Infante Diogo of Portugal (1425-1433) - 4th Constable and 11th Master of the Order of St. James;
*Infanta Isabel of Portugal (1428-1496), who was the mother of Isabella I of Castile and an ancestor of Spanish, French and English monarchs;
*Infanta Beatriz of Portugal, the mother of Manuel I of Portugal, Isabella of Viseu and Leonor of Viseu, and an ancestor of Spanish and Portuguese monarchs;
*Infanta Phillipa of Portugal (1432-1444), Lady of Almada

Isabella died sometime in 1476 at the age of 62, she is now ancestor of monarchs of many countries.
