Cărpiniş is a commune in Timiş County, Romania. It is composed of two villages, Cărpiniş and Iecea Mică. It also included Iecea Mare village until it was split off to form a separate commune in 2004.

Localization

Cărpiniş is situated on DN59A at a distance of 27.9 km from Timișoara and 15,3 km from Jimbolia, the closest city. Cărpiniş has a CFR Train station for the line Cărpiniş-Timișoara and Cărpiniş-Ionel.

History

In year 1387 Cărpiniş is documentary certified. Like in many other villages from Banat, Cărpiniş was colonized by German families from the Austro-Hungarian Empire (around the year 1767).

Economy

Cărpiniş is one of the biggest villages in Timiş County, having a big influence on the economies of the surrounding villages and a clear urban evolution.
