History

Its headquarters are currently located in Jacksonville, FL, and the company operates nine manufacturing facilities and logistics centers worldwide.

It was founded in 1980 when businessman Frederick Sontag purchased Slick Electro, an aircraft ignition manufacturer that was originally located in Rockford, IL, and reincorporated it under a new name. In April 2002, after twenty-two years operating as a private entrepreneurial business, Unison became a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Engine Services, Inc., a subsidiary of the GE Transportation division of the General Electric Company.
