Mohammad Rasoulof

Mohammad Rasoulov (born 1972 Shiraz, Iran [1]) is an Iranian independent filmmaker. He studied sociology at Shiraz University, and film editing at Sooreh Higher Education Institute in Tehran.[2]

His first feature-length film, The Twilight, was released in 2002.[3] His second feature, Iron Island (film), was released in 2005. His feature, The White Meadows was released in 2009. Be omidé didar (''Good bye'') was released at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.[4]

On December 20, 2010, he was sentenced by the government of Iran to six years in prison on charges of “assembly, collusion, and propagandizing against the regime.”[5] Abbas Kiarostami has called for his release, along with that of Jafar Panahi.[6]
