John Mackintosh Howie

John Mackintosh Howie, CBE, FRSE (born 23 May 1936), Scottish mathematician, was a prominent semigroup theorist in the 20th century.

Howie was educated at Robert Gordon's College, Aberdeen, the University of Aberdeenand Balliol College, Oxford.

He won the Keith Prize of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, 1979-81.
