Varrio Nuevo Estrada

Varrio Nuevo Estrada, also known as "VNE" is a Chicano gang founded in the Estrada Courts housing projects located in Los Angeles, California. Through time, the gang has expanded to occupy other local cities such as Montebello, California a.k.a. Varrio Nuevo Estrada "Tick Tocks" and Lancaster, California a.k.a Varrio Nuevo Estrada "Primos". In 2008, this is one of the biggest and oldest Los Angeles gangs in California.

One well known Estrada Courts mural is in memory of a VNE member. [http://www.grconnect.com/murals/html/r10img2121.html] The mural, entitled, " _es. Que Rifan Todo Las Cliqas del Barrio Nuevo Estrada Que Vivan" is located at 3328 Hunter St, Los Angeles. The artist Daniel Martinez painted the mural in 1973. Varrio Nuevo Estrada has also been represented in "Placas" or graffiti art [http://www.sleepylagoon.com/P/VNE/vne.htm]
