Afro-Asian Games

The Afro-Asian Games is an athletic event between teams from Asia and Africa.

2003 Games

The 2003 Games were held in Hyderabad, India in 2003. It saw, "delegates and dignitaries from over 120 countries representing Asia, Africa and few commonwealth countries. Players from 98 countries will take part in eight disciplines namely Athletics, Boxing Football, Hockey, Shooting, Swimming, Tennis, and weightlifting." The opening ceremony was on October 24, 2003. The games ended with China leading in the number of Gold medals (25) while India led in the total number of medals (80). [http://www.rediff.com/sports/aag03medals.htm] The top five teams were:

# China (25 gold, 11 Silver, 5 bronze)
# India (19 gold, 32 Silver, 29 Bronze)
# Japan (15 Gold, 6 Silver, 2 Bronze)
# Nigeria (10 Gold, 12 Silver, 13 Bronze)

Post-2003 Games
