Great Baddow High School is a secondary school in Chelmsford, Essex, England. The ages of pupils range from 11 - 16 years old and students in sixth form ages from 16 onwards. In September 2002 the school was awarded specialist Sports College status, where children benefit from the wide range of sports. Thus the school has just recently paid out a lot of money on a new physical education department, which was needed because the old one was outdated and needed new facilities for the growing number of students.

Facilities

As a Sports College, Great Baddow High School offers a range of varying sporting facilities, including:

A heated indoor swimming pool for sports such as swimming and water polo.

The pool also has its own male and female changing rooms with cubicles.

Three large playing fields for sports such as rugby, cricket and soccer.

An indoor gymnasium which can be used for trampolining, and also has equipment such as climbing ropes and wall bars.

A large indoor sports hall primarily used for the school's basketball teams.

Houses

When entering the school, the students are divided into one of four Houses. The purpose of these are for sporting competitions, such as sports day and also social competitive activities such as quizzes.

Each of the houses have their specific colours which can be used for teams in inter-house sports competitions such as a tennis tournament. The houses and their colours can be seen below:
*North - Blue
*South - Yellow
*East - Red
*West - Green

Throughout the year, students will gain awards such as bronze, silver (10 bronze awards) and gold awards (5 silver awards) for years seven to nine and then credits in years 10 and 11. The person with the most awards receives a prize at the end of the year.

Web system

The students have a web based system they can use called E-folio that can be accessed at [http://www.gbef.co.uk]
