In medicine, iron overload disorders are diseases caused by the accumulation of iron in the body. Organs commonly affected are the liver, heart and endocrine glands. [cite journal |author=Andrews NC |title=Disorders of iron metabolism |journal=N. Engl. J. Med. |volume=341 |issue=26 |pages=1986–95 |year=1999 |pmid=10607817|doi= 10.1056/NEJM199912233412607]
