Salamanca , the provincial capital. The region forms part of theField of Peñaranda .Cantalapiedra; which lies within the province of
Salamanca , which itself is bordered by theZamora ,Valladilid andAila provinces, within the 71.15 squarekilometres of the region; has a diameter of around 50kilometres (from the centre of the town). Governed by the judicial system ofPeñaranda , Cantalapiedra is a 'typical' town inSalamanca ; in the middle of seamlessly endlessplanes offertile wheat ; and located between suchhistoric landmarks as theOld Kingdom of Leon and theOld Kingdom of Castilla .The first organization in Cantalapiedra was the church of
Santa Maria of the Castle . The town is surrounded byplanes , to thenorth , northeast, northwest andsouth , grown there to 'frame' the town. Its historic past is reflected in locallandmarks , like the street of Weavers; encased within a wall; which goes up to the oldslaughter house and leads to the street of thehospital . The rest of the old enclosure symbolizes the tower of the Dean.
