As an ecozone,
Oceania includes all ofMicronesia ,Fiji , and all of Polynesia exceptNew Zealand .New Zealand , along withNew Guinea and nearby islands,Australia , theSolomon Islands ,Vanuatu , andNew Caledonia , constitute the separateAustralasia ecozone . In geopolitical terms, however, New Zealand, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia are almost always considered part of Oceania, and Australia andPapua New Guinea are usually considered part of Oceania too.
