Scott Ian Rosenfeld (born December 31, 1963) is the rhythm guitarist for the metal band Anthrax who uses the stage name Scott Ian. Rosenfeld is a former guitarist for the crossover band Stormtroopers of Death. He has hosted "The Rock Show" on VH1 and has appeared on VH1's "I Love The 70's/80's/90's/New Millennium" as well as VH1's "", and is the rhythm guitarist of Damnocracy. He is known for his long goatee and wild stage energy.

Personal life

Rosenfeld was born to a Jewish family in the Bayside section of the New York City borough of Queens on the last day of 1963. He has a younger brother named Jason who was involved in Anthrax briefly. Witnessing Kiss live for the first time at Madison Square Garden in 1977 made a huge impact on Ian, who has been very vocal over the years about his love for the band, and even appeared on an episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels in which he visited Simmons at his home and spoke about the impact Kiss had on his life and career. Ian went on to discover and be influenced by British heavy metal bands such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, as well as by NYC hardcore. He credits Motörhead and Judas Priest as the biggest influence on the Anthrax sound, and has cited Ted Nugent among his biggest guitar influences. He also cites the influence of The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Cheap Trick, Van Halen, Thin Lizzy and AC/DC. Ian attended Bronx High School of Science.Fact|date=September 2008

Ian is married to singer Pearl Aday, daughter of famed singer Meat Loaf.

He has taken up poker and is now an online pro at UltimateBet. [http://www.pokertube.com/Movies.aspx?movie=6277 PokerNews.com interview with Scott Ian] He has also shown himself to be a devout Battlestar Galactica fan, posting numerous blogs about the show and also making an appearance for the red carpet series finale.

Career

In 1981, Ian formed Anthrax with bassist Danny Lilker. He and Charlie Benante are the only original members of Anthrax still in the band. In 2005, they reformed the Among the Living era lineup to release an anthology album, DVD and embarked on a world tour.

Ian filmed a reality series for VH1 called "SuperGroup". Scott along with Ted Nugent (guitar), Evan Seinfeld (Biohazard, bass), Sebastian Bach (ex-Skid Row; vocals) and Jason Bonham (Bonham, UFO, Foreigner; drums) filmed in Las Vegas, with the premise being to lock several musicians in a house for 12 days and get them to write new, original music and perform a concert. In addition to the five musicians, star manager Doc McGhee (Kiss) was in charge and was also living in the house for the duration of filming/recording. The show's first episode aired in May, 2006. Scott Ian, along with Bonham was more "in the background", while the show was very much revolved around Sebastian Bach, with Nugent and Seinfeld trying to straighten out his drinking problems. However there were quite a few scenes on the show in which Scott Ian expressed his admiration for Ted Nugent, claiming that he "couldn't believe he was playing in a band with Ted Nugent."

Ian also appears on comedian Brian Posehn's music video "Metal By Numbers", which appears on Posehn's [http://www.myspace.com/BrianPosehn MySpace.]

He has recently worked with underground emcee/producer Necro for his "Death Rap" album.
