Uniform

Sacred Heart has two uniform tracks. If you are on track A you have a plaid light gray with red and blue accents as a freshman and sophomore as a junior and senior you wear a gray and blue plaid skirt. If you are on the B track you have a plaid gray skirt with maroon and yellow accents as a freshman and sophomore, and as a junior and senior you have a plaid gray skirt with yellow and blue accents. Every incoming year is put on the opposite track of the previous year. All freshman and sophomores wear maroon blazers and all juniors and seniors wear blue blazors. Due to track A and B all grades have a different skirt and lower classmen have the same blazers and upperclassmen have the same blazers. Students are allowed to decorate their blazers with pins, as long as it is not a distraction from studies. skirt examples: '08: Track B , '09: Track A , '10: Track B , '11: Track A

The school uniform is a white blouse, a knee-length skirt, school-issued gray or navy socks, depending on your year, and either oxfords or penny loafers. A student is required to wear her blazer when in the hall, but may take it off during classes. Effective the week of January 14, students are no longer allowed to wear their blazers when using the lavatory.

As an exception to the 'blazer rule', a student may choose to wear her school-issued (gray or navy depending on grade level) sweater. There is also a vest made of the same material as the blazer and bearing the school emblem as well. From on November 1 through April 1 each year, students are allowed to wear white shirts underneath their blouses.Failure to comply to uniform restrictions may lead to a detention, called a "referral".

Musical Theatre

Sacred Heart Academy produces an annual musical directed by Ms. Mary White and Mr. Richard Titone in which all grades may audition and participate held in the Virginia Crowley Theater. The show is usually announced in early to mid November with auditions and callbacks scheduled for the following weeks. A typical cast consists of about 40-60 students.

Everyone can get involved whether it be through acting, accompanying the performers in the Pit Band, designing costumes in the Costume Crew, or through building the scenery and creating the atmosphere in the Technique Club. Students from Chaminade, an affiliated all-male high school, may also audition for male roles.

Past SHA productions include:

*"The Little Mermaid" - 1998
*"Anastasia" - 1999
*"The Wizard of Oz" - 2000
*"Annie" - 2001
*"Godspell" - 2002
*"Footloose" - 2003
*"Fame" - 2004
*"Oliver!" - 2005
*"The Sound of Music" - 2006

Red and Gold

Each year, Sacred Heart Academy has a spirit competition with four major teams, Cheer, Aerobic, Dance, and Kickline, on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. From the tryouts for the major teams in early November until the event, the participating girls regularly practice 3-7 on weekdays and 9-7 on Saturdays (9-1 entrance 1-2 lunch 2-9 individual). In addition to the main teams, there are entrance teams made up of only seniors and spirit teams which introduce the teams. A Spirit Day, held the week before the event, encourages the whole student body to dress head-to-toe in Red or Gold.

"Red and Gold" takes place at Hofstra, with over three thousand students, parents, and faculty in the audience. At the beginning of the show, each team starts off with a 12 minute long "Entrance" which includes all four major teams. Alternating between the Red and Gold Team, each team then performs a 7 minute individual performance, with the notable exception of Cheering. The Cheer Team performs a more standard form of cheerleading to music during "Dance Cheer", and then performs an interesting combination of claps and pounds during "Stomp Cheer" to only the sounds of a captain's whistle. SHA seniors are encouraged to join Entrance and all are allowed to join Spirit, which introduces the teams. DVDs may be purchased after the show.
