Emília Sičáková-Beblavá

Emília Sičáková-Beblavá, also known as Emilia Sicakova, PhD. (born 1975 in Snina, Slovakia) is head of [http://www.transparency.sk Transparency International Slovakia] , [cite news|accessdate=2008-02-23|url=http://www.slovakspectator.sk/clanok.asp?cl=18597|date=2005-02-07|author=Beata Balogova |title=Spirit, not letter, broken|work= Slovak Spectator ] a chapter of Transparency International, a global non-governmental organization devoted to fighting corruption. She is one of the foremost anticorruption activists and policy analysts in Slovakia.

Sičáková-Beblavá graduated from high school in Michalovce and received an Ing. degree (M.A. equivalent) in Commerce from the Economic University in Bratislava in 1998. In 2004, she received her PhD from the same university based on a thesis focusing on the role of multilateral institutions in fighting corruption. In 2003, she spent a semester at the Yale University as one of its World Fellows. [Conference biographies]

In 1998, Dr. Sičáková co-founded the Slovak chapter of Transparency International, and was a member of its worldwide Executive Board from 2001 until 2004.

She is married to Miroslav Beblavý, who was the State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic [Conference biographies] between 2002 and 2006 and is currently the Executive Director of the Slovak Governance Institute. She has one son, Pavol.
