Egglescliffe is a village and civil parish which for ceremonial purposes is in County Durham, England. [ [http://www.hometownengland.com/county_durham County Durham, England's Cities, Towns, Villages and Settlements] ] Administratively it is located in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees. [ [http://uk.local.yahoo.com/County_Durham/Stockton-on-Tees/Councils/uk100006339-s-36191.html Councils in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham - Yahoo! Local UK] ] It was formerly part of the non-metropolitan county of Cleveland.

The village sits on top of a hill overlooking and across the River Tees from Yarm. The population is around 595.

The parish church is dedicated to St John the Baptist and there has been a place of worship on the site since the twelfth century. Also in the village is a Church of England primary school, small public play area, farms, allotments and a public house, called the "Pot and Glass".
