History

The Marist Brothers, or Institutum Fratrum Maristarum a Scholis (FMS), was founded by the French Saint Marcellin Champagnat on January 2, 1817 at La Valla, Saint-Chamond (Loire, France). [2]

The school system adopted of the Integrated basic education (IBED) in 1998-1999, headed by a school principal and five (5) cluster assistant principals.

Academics

PAASCU Accreditation

Marist School is accredited by PAASCU every five years. Currently Marist has a level III accreditation from PAASCU. The highest possible accreditation for basic education. [3]

Physical Education

Marist School Athletic League

The Marist School Athletic League or MSAL is an annual and year-round sport competition. All classes of the same level compete in events such as Volleyball, Basketball, Chess, Table Tennis, and Badminton. Classes or sections order their own uniforms bearing their class name. Awards are given out at the August opening ceremony for different categories such as best uniform, best muse, and best banner for each year level. Terrence Marquez of batch 2011 was the one who designed the official MSAL logo for the MSAL flag which is used every year for the MSAL Opening.

Sports Facilities

Marist School is the first school in Marikina City to have a swimming pool. It is the only school also in Marikina to have two tennis courts, a track and field oval, a football pitch, a baseball field and seven basketball/volleyball courts -- three Courts in the old High School gym, three Courts in the Grade School gym and one in the new gymnasium near the field.

Religion

The Church celebrates Mass every Sunday for the faithful community of Marikina Heights. Students are often asked to do the readings and the offertory. Students take turns serving as sponsors once a month until the school year ends.
