Mayliewan-Ozerna, Edmonton

Mayliewan-Ozerna is located in north east Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The City of Edmonton formally divides the area into two neighbourhoods, Mayliewan and Ozerna. Because the two neighbourhoods are sometimes collective referred to as if they were one neighbourhood, they are discussed here together. As of 2006, the two neighbourhoods have a population of about 8,075, with 4,069 in Mayliewan and 4,006 in Ozerna.

Mayliewan-Ozerna is bounded on the west by 82 Street, on the east by 66 Street, on the north by 167 Avenue and on the south by 153 Avenue. The west half of Mayliewan-Ozerna is Mayliewan and the east half is Ozerna. The line separating the two neighbourhoods is located at approximately 73 Street.

To the south of the Mayliewan-Ozerna, along 66 Street, is Londonderry Mall, a major shopping centre.

Housing

Housing in both neighbourhoods is predominantly single family dwellings with almost all (97%) of the homes in Mayliewan and four out of five (78%) of the homes in Ozerna being of this type. Ozerna has a significant portion of residences (10%) in walk up apartment buildings and duplexes[1] (12%). Substantially all the residences (97%) in both neighbourhoods are owner occupied according to the 2005 municipal census.

Schools

There is a single school in Mayliewan, St. John Bosco Elementary School, operated by the Edmonton Catholic School System. There are no schools in Ozerna.
