The "Tonnant" class was a type of eleven 80-gun ships of the line designed by Jacques-Noël Sané.

* "Tonnant":Builder: :Ordered: :Launched: 1790:Fate: Captured 2 August 1798; broken up 1821

* "Sans Pareil":Builder: :Ordered: :Launched: 1793:Fate: Captured 1 June 1794, by the Royal Navy; broken up October 1842

* "Indomptable":Builder: :Ordered: :Launched: 1793:Fate: Ran aground after the Battle of Trafalgar

* "Guillaume Tell":Builder: :Ordered: :Launched: 1795:Fate:Captured 30 March 1800

* "Formidable":Builder: :Ordered: :Launched: 1795:Fate: Captured 3 November 1805 during Battle of Cape Ortegal and renamed "HMS Brave" eventually broken up

* "Franklin":Builder: :Ordered: :Launched: 1798:Fate: Captured 2 August 1798 in the battle of the Nile and was renamed "HMS Canopus" and broken up in October 1887

* "Indivisible":Builder: :Ordered: :Launched: 1799:Fate:

* "Foudroyant":Builder: :Ordered: :Launched: 1800:Fate: broken up in 1834

* "Neptune":Builder: :Ordered: :Launched: 1803:Fate: Captured by the Spanish Navy in 1808

* "Bucentaure":Builder: :Ordered: :Launched: 1804:Fate: Captured by the Royal Navy following Trafalgar on 21 October 1808. Was briefly recaptured and wrecked on 23 October 1808.
