Carlo Forlivesi

Carlo Forlivesi (born October 23, 1971) is an Italian composer, pianist and researcher.

He was born in Faenza, Emilia-Romagna. He studied at Bologna Conservatory, Milan Conservatory and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia of Rome, before joining IRCAM, DIEM, Tokyo College of Music and Northwestern University with research fellowships from the governments of Italy, Denmark, Japan and the Fulbright Commission. His activity has mainly focused on new music in Europe, the United States and Japan. He has conducted extensive research in the field of the traditional Japanese music and dance, including the ethnic music of the Ainu. Forlivesi has received numerous awards and commissions all around the world. His output includes works for orchestra as well as electronics and traditional Japanese instruments. Currently he shares his life between Japan and Europe.
