Bumbarash ( _ru. Бумбараш) is a 1971 Soviet adventure film, a musical comedy in two series loosely based on some early works and the novel "Bumbarash" by Arkady Gaidar.

Directed by Abram Naroditsky and Nikolai Rasheyev. Screenplay by Yevgeni Mitko.

Songs lyrics by Yuliy Kim (credited as Yu. Mikhaylov).

Film produced by Dovzhenko Film Studio and Gosteleradio.

Vladimir Mashkov directed a theater play "Passions for Bumbarash".

Plot summary

It's a period of Civil War. Pvt Bumbarash was an austrian prisoner of war, but now is returning to his home village, where all, including his beloved girlfriend, believes he's dead.

The rule in the village is periodically changing between White, Red and, simply, the bandits

Bumbarash is trying to survive in this chaos and to return his love.
