Marathi Sahitya Sammelan

Marathi Sahitya Sammelan

Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan is a conference for literary discussions by Marathi writers. Though the conference has sometimes been held in a town outside the Indian state of Maharashtra, it is typically held annually in one of the towns in Maharashtra where Marathi is the mother tongue of a large majority of its residents.

The first Marathi Sahitya Sammelan was held in Pune in 1878 under the chairmanship of Mahadev Govind Ranade.

Regional counterparts of the conference such as Konkan Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, Vidarbha Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, and Goa Marathi Sahitya Sammelan have also been recently held.

Eighteenth All India Marathi Jain Sahitya Sammelan was held at Aurangabad on February 7 and 8, 2009.

Eighth Akhil Bharatiya Muslim Marathi Sahitya Sammelan was held at Aurangabad during July 10 -12, 2009. (The seventh Sammelan had been held at Kolhapur in 2001.)

The first Vishwa Marathi Sahitya Sammelan was organized by the Bay Area Maharashtra Mandal in Milpitas, California during February 14-16, 2009.
