Artists who were supported early on in their careers by this Fellowship include: Spike Lee[2], Julie Taymor, Andres Serrano, Junot Diaz, and hundreds of other notable visual artists, filmmakers, playwrights, sculptors, authors, architects, poets, composers, and choreographers.
Other programs include Building Up Infrastructure Levels for Dance (BUILD) grants, the New York Theater Program, and Strategic Opportunity Stipends. NYFA also has a Learning program which includes NYFA MARK, a multi-week business-of-art program for visual artists in New York State, NYFA Boot Camp for artists, and The Immigrant Artist Project, which provides Mentorship, exhibition opportunities, information, and resources to artists born outside the U.S. and newly working in NYC.
