Kqueue

kqueue — это масштабируемый интерфейс уведомления о событиях. Впервые появился во FreeBSD 4.1[1] и на данный момент присутствует практически во всех BSD системах. Kqueue позволяет пользователям получать уведомления о событиях на указанные цели очень быстро.
